Borno Troops Neutralize Boko Haram Hideout During Operation
Borno State, Nigeria — Troops participating in Operation HADIN KAI successfully neutralized a suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) hideout during a clearance operation in the Gubio Local Government Area. The operation took place on Saturday, following credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected terrorists in the Layi area.
Military sources reported the details on Sunday via a post on social media platform X, attributed to security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the report, soldiers from the 145 Battalion (Mechanised), under the command of their commanding officer, advanced to the identified location. Upon sighting the troops, the suspected terrorists reportedly fled the scene.
The troops subsequently overran the hideout, destroying it and conducting a search of the vicinity. During their search, they recovered a pump-action rifle and three magazines for AK-47 rifles, believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing insurgents.
Additionally, the operation included extended patrols in the nearby Mallamti Ganyawa village, where no terrorists were encountered.
The operation concluded without casualties, and the troops returned safely to their base later that afternoon. Military sources characterized the security situation in the area as relatively calm, yet unpredictable, emphasizing that troops remain on high alert as they continue offensive operations against terrorist groups throughout the northeastern region.
