Troops Rescue Kidnapped Victims in Plateau State
JOS, Nigeria — Troops from Sector 1 of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) have successfully rescued two individuals who were kidnapped by armed criminals in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The victims, identified as Samson Chiroma and Nathaniel Nwase, were abducted around 11 p.m. on August 9 while returning to their home at the ECWA Staff Quarters.

According to a military source, the troops launched a pursuit operation in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) shortly after receiving a distress call.
The source reported that the security forces established contact with the kidnappers, who fled into the surrounding mountains upon realizing they were outmatched by the troops’ firepower. The victims were rescued unharmed and returned to their families.
While both victims were safe, the kidnappers reportedly escaped with a laptop and two mobile phones belonging to them.
The military source confirmed that a manhunt for the fleeing criminals is underway.
“Efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the perpetrators,” the source stated.
This operation underscores the ongoing partnership between security forces and local vigilante groups in addressing kidnapping incidents and enhancing safety in vulnerable communities across Plateau State.
