Poll Shows Majority of Americans Oppose War on Iran, Question Trump’s Strategy

A recent survey indicates that a significant majority of registered voters in the United States oppose the ongoing military conflict in Iran and believe the Trump administration lacks a clear strategy to resolve it. The poll, conducted by Fox News and released Thursday, reveals that 71 percent of voters feel there is no definitive plan from the administration for ending hostilities that have contributed to rising inflation and soaring fuel prices.
This polling data comes just one day before in-person voting begins for the upcoming midterm elections in November. The war’s unpopularity is reflected in President Donald Trump’s approval ratings, which have dropped to 39 percent, with a disapproval rate reaching 61 percent.
Conducted in mid-September, the survey also highlights a growing sentiment among voters regarding military action against Iran, with more than 60 percent perceiving it as the “wrong decision.” Additionally, concerns are rising about the war’s implications for U.S. security; 47 percent of respondents believe the conflict will make the United States less safe in the long term, a marked increase from 39 percent reported in April. In contrast, only 32 percent feel the country will be safer as a result of military engagement.
Early voting for the midterm elections is scheduled to last six weeks and will involve elections for both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. Should Democrats gain a majority in Congress, they could significantly influence the final two years of Trump’s presidency.
In response to potential challenges in the elections, Trump has undertaken measures to alter voting practices. This includes attempts to restrict mail-in ballots and launch pressure campaigns aimed at election officials to disclose sensitive voter data. He has also initiated a federal investigation focused on non-citizen voters.
Additionally, Trump has pledged a $5,000 payout for every adult U.S. citizen if the Republican Party retains control of both houses of Congress.
