Video: Desmond Elliot begs Gbajabiamila for forgiveness, seeks return to APC

Desmond Elliot, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has issued an apology to Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, following his conduct during the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Lagos.

In a video that has circulated widely on social media, Elliot is seen kneeling as he seeks forgiveness from Gbajabiamila and expresses a desire to be reintegrated into the ruling party.

“I’m sorry, I have no excuse. I am deeply sorry and hope to conduct myself better in the future,” Elliot stated during the apology.

This development comes after a fallout between Elliot and the party leadership stemming from the APC primary for the Surulere Constituency I seat held in May. Elliot withdrew from the primary, citing intimidation and political pressure directed at his supporters. He subsequently rejected the results and indicated plans to appeal the decision through the party’s established channels.

Elliot ultimately lost the APC ticket to Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who was reportedly supported by Gbajabiamila. Odunuga-Bakare received 11,385 votes, while Elliot managed only 270 votes in the primary.
