Bauchi Governor Discusses National Issues with Peter Obi

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed met with Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, to address important national concerns, including economic recovery and citizens’ welfare.

The meeting took place at the Government House in Bauchi, and Mohammed characterized it as a timely dialogue. He shared details of the encounter in a post on X on Thursday.

“Today, I received Mr. Peter Obi, a prominent figure in the Labour Party and the ADC, at the Government House in Bauchi. Our discussions focused on critical national issues such as economic recovery and the welfare of our citizens,” Mohammed wrote.

The governor also noted that the meeting provided a platform to assess the current political climate and highlighted the need for strengthening democratic institutions.

“We took time to review the evolving political landscape and emphasized the urgent necessity of enhancing our democratic frameworks,” he added.

Mohammed expressed appreciation for Obi’s visit, underscoring the significance of dialogue among political leaders in tackling national challenges.

“I commended him for the visit, as engagements like this foster mutual understanding and pave the way for practical, people-centric solutions,” he stated.

Additionally, the leaders agreed on the importance of prioritizing national interest over partisan politics.

“We jointly urged all stakeholders to transcend partisanship and focus on the national interest in all decision-making,” Mohammed emphasized.

This meeting occurs amidst ongoing political realignments leading up to the 2027 general elections.
