Bishop Calls for Truthfulness Among Professionals for Nation’s Growth
ADO EKITI — The Most Rev. Oluwaseun Fagbohun, Presiding Bishop of the Old Catholic Apostolic Church, emphasized the vital importance of truthfulness in a speech on World Communications Day 2026. Addressing an audience of journalists and professionals from various fields, the bishop urged commitment to honesty as a means of fostering national growth and unity.
In his remarks, Bishop Fagbohun stated that truth serves as the foundation necessary to combat moral decay, injustice, and disunity within society. He called on journalists, lawyers, judges, medical practitioners, artisans, and all citizens to uphold integrity in their professions, asserting that the importance of truth must never be underestimated.
“Let journalists speak the truth, let lawyers speak the truth, let judges speak the truth, let doctors speak the truth, let clerics speak the truth, let politicians speak the truth, let artisans speak the truth, and let everybody speak the truth even at the point of death,” he said. “It is only the truth that can save the nation.”
Bishop Fagbohun highlighted the significance of World Communications Day as a reminder of communication’s role in promoting peace, justice, and accountability.
He encouraged media professionals to adhere to principles of ethical journalism and objective reporting, despite the numerous challenges facing the industry today.
Additionally, he appealed to Nigerians to embody honesty in their daily lives, suggesting that a society founded on truth would ultimately experience lasting peace, development, and unity.
