2027: Hayatu-Deen picks ADC presidential nomination form

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen Seeks ADC Presidential Nomination for 2027 Election

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, a prominent economist and politician, has officially entered the 2027 presidential race by obtaining the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential nomination form. This marks him as the first aspirant to secure the nomination from the party.

The form was presented to Hayatu-Deen on Thursday evening at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja by Prince Chinedu Idigo, the party’s National Organising Secretary.

Party members have described Hayatu-Deen’s early action as a demonstration of strength and organizational capability within the ADC. Following the presentation, he pledged to adhere to the party’s leadership decisions regarding the primary election process.

“I have made it clear in several venues that our leadership is strong, vigorous, wise, and exercises sound judgment,” Hayatu-Deen stated. “It is left to the leadership of the party to determine how it will conduct this election, either through direct primaries or consensus.”

He emphasized the importance of democracy, asserting that every eligible Nigerian has the right to contest for office. Hayatu-Deen noted that leadership decisions belong ultimately to the people, highlighting the necessity for open contests and credible elections.

While acknowledging the competitive nature of the race, he affirmed his commitment to abide by the ADC’s decision regarding candidate selection, whether by consensus or direct primaries.

“I am not the only aspirant, and that is the beauty of democracy,” he said. “I will fully abide by whatever decision the party leadership takes.”

Hayatu-Deen outlined his priorities for governance, which include job creation, reducing living costs, addressing insecurity, and alleviating poverty.

“My priority is jobs, lower living costs, decisive action on insecurity, and reducing poverty by at least 60 percent within four years,” he stated. “Nigeria cannot continue as the poverty capital of the world. Our people deserve prosperity, safety, and responsible governance.”

He described the current poverty and security challenges facing Nigeria as unacceptable and promised to implement practical reforms aimed at rebuilding institutions and restoring public confidence.

When asked about competing against high-profile candidates, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Hayatu-Deen expressed confidence in his experience.

“Everyone will enter the primary with their best foot forward; I’m going to put my best foot forward,” he said. “I believe I have a compelling agenda and the vision required to govern Nigeria responsibly.”

Hayatu-Deen has decades of experience in fixing broken institutions and job creation, and he believes that he possesses the necessary competence to lead the country.
