2027: Tinubu will win again if Atiku, Obi remain divided — Donald Duke

PRP Candidate Predicts Tinubu’s Re-election If Opposition Remains Divided
LAGOS — Donald Duke, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), anticipates that President Bola Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027 if leading opposition candidates do not unite.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Wednesday, Duke expressed concern that a fragmented opposition vote—specifically between Atiku Abubakar of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)—could mirror the results of the 2023 presidential election, thereby benefiting Tinubu.
Duke emphasized that without a collaborative effort, the opposition would face significant challenges in overcoming the ruling party. “We don’t understand what we’re doing. If you fragmented the Democrats in the United States into two or three parties, the Republicans would remain in office forever. That’s what we’re doing here,” he said.
He attributed the opposition’s lack of coordination in the recent election to divisions among prominent figures, noting that votes were dispersed across different candidates from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “In 2023, we fragmented, with all major opposition coming from the PDP,” Duke explained, citing Atiku, Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso as examples.
Duke further criticized the “large egos” of leading opposition candidates as a barrier to establishing a unified platform. He remarked that while they may be confident about their prospects in 2027, they could face disappointment if they do not achieve cohesion.
“They think they’re going to win. I have news for them. They’re not going anywhere,” he stated, adding that he did not foresee any of the prominent candidates triumphing if the opposition remains splintered.
When asked about his prediction regarding Tinubu’s chances in the 2027 election, Duke affirmed, “Absolutely.”
