Muslims, Christians must confront injustice worldwide – Zakzaky

Islamic Movement in Nigeria Calls for Global Unity Against Injustice
The Islamic Movement in Nigeria, commonly referred to as the Shi’ites, has issued a call for Muslims and Christians worldwide to unite in their struggle against injustice and oppression. The organization emphasized that global solidarity is essential for promoting justice and improving living conditions.
Malama Zeenatuddeen Ibraheem Zakzaky, wife of the movement’s leader Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, made the appeal during the closing ceremony of the 5th International Conference on Islamic Thought held in Bauchi. The conference, themed “The State of Affairs and the Way Out,” was organized by the Sisters Forum and Academic Forum under Sheikh Zakzaky’s leadership and attracted participants from Nigeria, Niger, Chad, and other African nations.
Zeenatuddeen Zakzaky urged attendees to adhere strictly to the teachings of the Qur’an and the traditions of Prophet Muhammad. “Muslims must live their lives according to how Allah enjoined us in the Qur’an,” she stated. She emphasized that the conference aimed to remind believers of their responsibilities as Muslims, adding, “We are not saying that everybody should become Muslim, but we cannot afford to live against the teachings of the Qur’an.”
Addressing contemporary global conflicts involving entities such as the United States, Israel, and Iran, Zakzaky described the situation as a struggle between oppression and resistance. “It is now clear whom we side with in this fight,” she remarked, reaffirming her support for what she termed the “axis of resistance against aggression.”
She further asserted that peace and development cannot coexist in a world that overlooks injustice. “It is mandatory to act against injustice,” she stated, highlighting that the mission of the Prophets has always been to combat oppression and establish justice.
The conference also aimed to raise awareness of the Islamic Movement’s objectives in Nigeria and to strengthen opposition against perceived global oppression, particularly in the context of Palestinian struggles. Zakzaky cautioned against foreign influence, particularly from the United States, urging Nigerians to safeguard their national sovereignty. “The US is focused on controlling the wealth and resources of other countries,” she warned.
Dr. Fatima, a lecturer from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of promoting justice and resisting oppression on a global scale. She called for unity among Muslims and Christians, asserting that inaction in the face of injustice exacerbates global suffering.
