General Olufemi Oluyede Urges Troops to Intensify Operations Against Banditry in North West Nigeria

GUSAU, Zamfara State — General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff, has called on troops involved in Operation FANSAN YAMMA to enhance their efforts in combating bandits and other criminal elements in Nigeria’s North West region. During a visit to the Theatre Command Headquarters of the operation, General Oluyede stressed the importance of ensuring national security.

The visit aimed to assess the operational readiness of the troops, address challenges they face, and bolster morale in their ongoing campaign to restore peace in the area.

In his address, General Oluyede commended the troops for their resilience and bravery in the face of adversity. He urged them to remain disciplined and professional in their mission against banditry and terrorism. “The safety of our citizens is our responsibility. You must remain steadfast and pursue these criminals until they are eradicated,” he stated, emphasizing the commitment to Nigeria’s security.

The Chief of Defence Staff assured the personnel of ongoing support, including welfare initiatives, training, and the provision of essential operational equipment. He reiterated the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s pledge to maintain pressure on criminal organizations until a lasting peace is attained throughout the North West and the country.

General Oluyede also underscored the critical role of air support in current operations and mentioned efforts to enhance operational capabilities through additional resources and improved coordination across various theatres.

As part of his visit, General Oluyede met with Zamfara State Governor Mallam Dauda Lawal, expressing gratitude for the governor’s support of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and the military. He praised the residents of Zamfara for their cooperation and encouraged ongoing collaboration, particularly in the timely sharing of intelligence.
