Pogba: Fernandes Would Be Ballon d’Or Contender at City
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has asserted that Bruno Fernandes would be a top-three contender for the Ballon d’Or if he played for Manchester City instead of United.
Pogba, who shared a dressing room with Fernandes during his time at Old Trafford, believes that the individual achievements of his former teammate have been overshadowed by the club’s lack of recent success. Since Fernandes joined Manchester United in 2020, Manchester City has secured four consecutive Premier League titles.
In remarks made on the Rio Meets podcast, Pogba stated, “Do you honestly think Bruno Fernandes could do more than he already does at United? For me, you put him in City, he is in the Ballon d’Or top three. With the stats this season, but when you don’t win, we don’t think about it. That’s life. That’s football.”
