Ogun State Police Establish New Post Near Olabisi Onabanjo University After Midnight Robbery
Ogun State Police Commissioner Bode Ojajuni has announced the creation of a police post near the Ibogun Campus of Olabisi Onabanjo University. This initiative aims to enhance rapid response capabilities, increase police visibility, and bolster community policing efforts.
The decision comes in the wake of a violent robbery on Saturday night, during which a group of 12 armed men reportedly attacked student hostels, firing shots and stealing phones, laptops, and other valuables.
On Monday, Ojajuni, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations Bolanle Muritala, and Area Commander Ifo ACP Seyi Williams, visited the campus to assess security conditions and consult with key stakeholders on measures to improve safety in the area.
During the visit, the Commissioner engaged with the university’s leadership, including Vice Chancellor Professor Ayodeji Agboola, Provost of the College of Engineering and Environmental Sciences Professor Bashir Odufuwa, and community leaders, including His Royal Highness Oba Timothy Sowumi, the Olu of Ibogun-Sowumi.
Ojajuni assured attendees that the police command had thoroughly evaluated the security concerns and would enhance policing in and around the university and adjacent communities. He outlined plans for increased patrols and proactive policing strategies, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with community stakeholders.
Additionally, the Commissioner coordinated with other security agencies, such as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, and So-Safe Corps, to ensure effective security coverage in the region.
The Commissioner reiterated the command’s commitment to community policing and ongoing collaboration with stakeholders to maintain peace and security throughout Ogun State.
