NPFL: Warri Wolves fined N6m, to play home matches behind closed doors

Nigeria Premier Football League Imposes Fine on Warri Wolves
LAGOS, Nigeria — The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has fined Warri Wolves 6 million naira for violent conduct during their recent match against Plateau United in Ozoro. The league has also mandated that the Wolves play their remaining home games this season behind closed doors.
The NPFL’s decision followed an investigation into the club’s failure to provide adequate security at the match, which allowed unauthorized individuals access to restricted areas.
Additionally, Warri Wolves fans were reported to have engaged in unsporting behavior that could harm the reputation of the sport. Their actions led to a 10-minute delay during the match due to gross misconduct toward match officials.
The NPFL has instructed Warri Wolves to identify and prosecute those responsible for the disturbances and to submit evidence of the actions taken.
The club has 48 hours from the receipt of the notice to appeal the penalties imposed.
