Katsina Police Repel Bandits, Recover 70 Livestock

KATSINA—Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have successfully thwarted an attack by suspected bandits, recovering 70 livestock during operations in the Jibia and Musawa Local Government Areas.

The details of the incident were shared Thursday on social media by security analyst Bakatsine. The operations stemmed from directives issued by Commissioner of Police Aliyu Umar Fage, aimed at addressing banditry and other related crimes in the region.

During the engagement, police say officers encountered the suspects in a gun battle, which forced the bandits to abandon the stolen animals as they fled the scene. In addition to the recovered livestock, police discovered two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and six spent shells.

Authorities indicated that the recovered items would assist in ongoing investigations and facilitate the tracking of those involved in the attack. The operation is part of the Katsina State Police’s continued efforts to increase pressure on criminal groups and enhance security throughout the state.
