Kaduna woman arraigned over alleged misappropriation of N6.7m

A 35-year-old woman, Abigail Moses, has been arraigned in Kaduna Magistrates’ Court on charges of misappropriating 6.7 million naira from her employer.

Moses, who resides in Kabala West, faces two counts of criminal breach of trust and misappropriation. The charges stem from a report made on April 28 by Kingsley Vincent at the Gabasawa Police Station in Kaduna.

According to the prosecution, Moses, employed as a secretary at Vincent & Sons Trading Company Nigeria Ltd, allegedly diverted funds generated from sales. An audit by the company revealed discrepancies when Moses was unable to account satisfactorily for the missing funds.

Moses pleaded not guilty to the charges. Presiding Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel set bail at 1 million naira, requiring two sureties in the same amount. The court mandated that the sureties must live within the court’s jurisdiction and provide proof of three years’ tax payments to the Kaduna State Government. Additionally, one surety must be a blood relative of the defendant.

The case is scheduled for a hearing on June 25.
