Nigerian Troops Neutralize Two Suspected Terrorists in Borno State

Troops from the Joint Task Force North-East, operating under the banner of Operation Hadin Kai, neutralized two suspected terrorists during a night ambush in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported the incident via social media, detailing that the operation, part of Operation Desert Sanity/Siege Operations, commenced around 11:05 p.m. on May 13, 2026, in Bazamri village. This location is known as a significant crossing point for members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

According to security sources, the troops set an ambush at the site, successfully intercepting the suspects and engaging them in a firefight. The confrontation resulted in the neutralization of the two insurgents.

Following the encounter, the troops conducted a clearance operation in the area, recovering several items believed to be logistics supplies for the terrorists. The recovered items included 54 packs of 80-gram detergent, 32 packs of 500-gram salt, and one carton of spaghetti.

Military officials confirmed that no casualties were reported among their ranks during the operation. The ambush team has since repositioned to maintain surveillance in the area as part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.

Security sources noted that troop morale and operational efficiency remain high, with offensive operations continuing across the theater.
