Kano NSCDC Arrests Suspected Railway Vandal
KANO, Nigeria – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of vandalizing materials associated with the Federal Government’s Kaduna-Kano railway project.
Sani Ismail, a resident of Kuya village in the Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was apprehended in the Kiru Local Government Area of Kano State following intelligence reports, according to a statement from NSCDC spokesperson SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Ismail is accused of removing eleven rail line clips from the new standard gauge railway currently under construction. Authorities found him in possession of a hammer, which they allege he used in the act.
Additionally, the NSCDC reported the arrest of two individuals, Yusuf Usman and Muhd Auwal, both 22 and residents of Kawo Jirga in Nassarawa Local Government Area, for allegedly impersonating civil defence volunteers.
The duo operated from a site displaying the NSCDC logo, where they reportedly harassed and mistreated a social media comedian.
“Investigation into the case has been concluded, and necessary legal actions will be taken against the two suspected fake volunteers,” the statement confirmed.
