Nigerian Army troops, in collaboration with operatives from the Department of State Services, successfully repelled suspected terrorists during a security operation in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State early Sunday morning.
The operation commenced at approximately 2:50 a.m. on May 14, following intelligence reports regarding terrorist activity in the vicinity of Lugu village, according to security sources.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported on social media platform X that the troops engaged the armed suspects in a gun battle, which prompted the attackers to retreat toward the Bafarawa area.
Subsequent to the initial encounter, troops conducted follow-up operations in Danzanke, Modachi village, and along a riverside adjacent to a damaged bridge in the region.
During the operation, soldiers rescued a civilian who had sustained gunshot wounds. Sources indicated that the victim was evacuated for medical assistance, while security personnel continued patrols and clearance operations throughout affected communities to track the fleeing suspects and deter further terrorist activities.
