Amaechi’s presidential campaign posters flood Bauchi

Amaechi’s Campaign Posters Emerge Across Bauchi Ahead of 2027 Election

By Christopher Ameh, Bauchi

Campaign posters for Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Minister of Transportation, have recently been spotted throughout Bauchi.

Amaechi, who submitted his presidential nomination form on Thursday, previously sought the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket in 2022 but was defeated by current President Bola Tinubu. This election cycle, he will compete for the ADC nomination against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Posters advertising Amaechi’s presidential bid are now displayed prominently across the Bauchi metropolis in anticipation of the 2027 presidential election. His campaign slogan, “Move Nigeria Forward,” suggests a focus on promoting national development, although gaining traction in northern regions—historically a stronghold for Abubakar—will be vital for his candidacy. Amaechi holds the traditional title of Dan Amanan Kasar Hausa of Daura, which may enhance his appeal.

The posters have been strategically placed at various high-traffic locations, including roundabouts, utility poles, and billboards throughout the capital. Key sites featuring the campaign materials include Ahmadu Bello Way, Awalah Roundabout, Wunti Flyover, and Railway Road, among others.

Local residents have responded positively to the visibility of the campaign. One resident, Ibrahim Jafar, described Amaechi as a devoted public servant during President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. He noted, “He associates himself with the North even more than his own region. He brought Nigeria’s first University of Transportation to the North.”

Jafar further emphasized the trustworthiness of Amaechi compared to other northern candidates, stating, “Those who are contesting with him have not achieved such accomplishments.”

As the election approaches, Amaechi’s ability to connect with voters in Bauchi and beyond will be closely observed.
