Brentford Promotes Defender Benjamin Fredrick to First Team
Brentford has officially promoted defender Benjamin Fredrick to its first-team squad for the 2026/27 Premier League season. The club announced that Fredrick has signed a new four-year contract, which includes an option for an additional year.
Fredrick, 21, began his tenure with Brentford in August 2023, initially joining the club’s B team on loan from Simoiben Football Academy. He made his presence felt by being named on the bench for two Premier League and two FA Cup matches before the move was made permanent in April 2024.
Last season, Fredrick was loaned to Belgian Pro League club Dender EH. His progress, however, encountered a setback due to an injury he sustained while representing Nigeria in a 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifier against the Democratic Republic of Congo last November.
