’Battle line is drawn’ – Senator Jibrin dares Ododo after losing Senate return ticket

Senator Jibrin Isah Challenges Kogi Governor After Primary Election Loss
By Boluwaji Obahopo
Kogi East Senatorial District’s representative, Senator Jibrin Isah, has expressed strong discontent with Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo following his defeat in the recent Senate primary election.
Isah, one of seven candidates vying for the senatorial nomination, alleged significant irregularities during the election process, claiming that government agents obstructed access to electoral materials intended for the primary.
After the election, Isah reported that he received only two votes in his own ward and found no electoral officials present to facilitate the process. He noted similar issues were observed in multiple wards throughout the district, leading to a lack of participation by party members.
He asserted that the absence of electoral personnel and materials hindered supporters’ ability to vote, characterizing the events as a deliberate effort to undermine his campaign and alter the election outcome.
Isah emphasized that the projects he has implemented in Kogi East would bolster the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates, including the presidential nominee, in the district. Despite his steadfast loyalty to both Governor Ododo and party leadership, Isah questioned the motivations behind his treatment given his contributions to the APC.
He suggested that Ododo’s actions may stem from fears regarding potential competition, as he indicated plans to run for governor in the next election cycle. “With the latest development, I will now contest for the governorship position against Governor Ododo when the time comes,” he stated.
Isah urged the APC leadership to investigate the alleged electoral misconduct to ensure a fair process in future elections.
