Osun guber: Davido kicks over plot to deregister Accord Party

Nigerian Musician Davido Raises Concerns Over Alleged Deregistration of Accord Party

Nigerian Afrobeat artist David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has expressed alarm over a purported plot to deregister the Accord party ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election in Osun State.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday, Davido questioned the rationale behind the potential deregistration. He emphasized the importance of conducting free and fair elections, stating, “Deregister Accord party for what? Cowards let’s go to the field.”

This statement follows a recent critique of Gboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former governor of Osun State, whom Davido accused of engaging in alleged desperate tactics.

According to reports, Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in December 2025 due to internal issues within the party and has since joined the Accord Party in his bid for re-election.

The Osun State gubernatorial election is scheduled for August 15, 2026.
