Police recover stolen vehicles, livestock, illicit drugs across Jigawa

Jigawa State Police Report Significant Crime-Fighting Successes
The Jigawa State Police Command has announced notable achievements in its ongoing efforts to combat crime, including the recovery of a stolen vehicle, four motorcycles, seven cows, three sheep, and over 5,800 illicit drugs.
In a statement issued Saturday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Shiisu Lawan Adam attributed these successes to intelligence gathering, community cooperation, and proactive policing strategies.
On May 15, police apprehended two suspects, Isiyaku Isah, 26, and Musa Yakubu, 25, in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area. The men were found in possession of a motorcycle believed to have been stolen from Ningi Local Government Area in Bauchi State. Investigators reported that the suspects confessed to the theft, and efforts are underway to return the motorcycle to its rightful owner.
Another operation on May 19 involved officers and local security volunteers who recovered two motorcycles, one cow, and three sheep while pursuing suspected thieves in Malam Madori. The suspects fled into nearby bushes, abandoning the stolen items.
In a separate incident that same day, police arrested Emos Monday from Karshi, Abuja, for allegedly diverting a company vehicle intended for an official trip to Kano State. A Toyota Hiace bus was recovered following intelligence-led tracking.
Two additional suspects, Umar Garba and Abubakar Adam, were arrested on May 21 in connection with a motorcycle theft. Authorities discovered that the suspects had altered the motorcycle’s color from red to black in an attempt to conceal its identity.
On May 20, police intercepted a vehicle along the Kano-Maiduguri Road in Kiyawa Local Government Area, which was carrying four cows suspected to be stolen. Five individuals were arrested related to this incident, and both the vehicle and livestock were taken into police custody.
In another case of cattle rustling, Nabagara Bura and Sale Adamu were apprehended on May 22 with two cows believed to have been stolen from Shanwure village in Auyo Local Government Area.
Additionally, police conducted raids on various criminal hideouts across the state, recovering 5,886 assorted illicit drugs and 28,750 naira, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales. Several suspected drug dealers were apprehended during these operations.
Commissioner of Police Haruna A. Yahaya commended the officers involved and the vigilant members of the community for their support. He emphasized the command’s ongoing dedication to protecting lives and property within the state.
The police statement urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid in efforts to eliminate criminal activity. It confirmed that all suspects will be charged in court following the completion of investigations.
