2026 World Cup: I’m ready to gamble – Saka speaks ahead of England vs Croatia

Saka Prepared to Risk Fitness for World Cup Goals
Dallas—England winger Bukayo Saka has expressed his willingness to continue risking his fitness as the team prepares for its 2026 World Cup campaign.
On Monday, Saka announced his readiness to participate in the Group L opener against Croatia in Dallas. The 24-year-old athlete has been managing a persistent Achilles injury sustained while playing for Arsenal.
Ahead of the tournament, England manager Thomas Tuchel noted that Saka had struggled to train on consecutive days due to the injury. However, Saka has emphasized the importance of team commitment, stating that players often take to the pitch even when not at their best.
“As players, it’s the biggest gamble, especially if you’re not feeling your sharpest,” Saka said. “You have the choice whether you don’t play or you put yourself out there knowing people are going to judge you the same.”
