Nasarawa community seeks govt intervention on dilapidated Ezhiba-Akpata road

Nasarawa Community Seeks Government Action on Local Road

EZHI-BA, Nasarawa State — Leaders from the Ezhiba community have urged Governor Abdullahi Sule to prioritize the construction of the Ezhiba-Akpata road. They describe the road’s current condition as a significant barrier to mobility, agriculture, and economic activities in the region.

The appeal was made on Monday during a courtesy visit led by Chief Danlami Umbugadu, the Aren Ezhiba, to Dr. Ismaila Garba Adigizi, the Administrator of the Akun Area Administrative Council, in Akpata.

Umbugadu highlighted that the road’s poor condition is causing considerable hardship for residents and neighboring areas. He emphasized that rehabilitating the road would greatly enhance local livelihoods.

“This road is in a deplorable condition, and our people are suffering while using it,” he stated. “We appeal to Governor Abdullahi Sule to intervene and construct the road to improve our standard of living.”

In addition to road repairs, Umbugadu called for increased inclusion of Ezhiba indigenes in government employment and appointments, assuring the state government of the community’s continued support.

Other stakeholders present included former Speaker of the Akun Development Area, Hon. Lami Martina Bako; retired education director, Mr. Charles Jatau Shari; Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the ECDA President, Chief Awayi Kuje; and Ezhiba ECDA Chairman, Mr. Umbugadu Angbashim. They reiterated the call for better infrastructure and development initiatives in the area.

In response, Dr. Adigizi expressed gratitude for the visit and committed the council’s support for projects aimed at enhancing community welfare. He also encouraged residents to continue backing government efforts at all levels to foster development in Ezhiba.
