Nigerian Actor Akin Olaiya Faces Allegations of Domestic Violence from Ex-Wife

Nafisat, the former spouse of Nigerian actor Akin Olaiya, has publicly accused him of domestic violence, confirming their marital split in a video that circulated widely on Wednesday.

The announcement of their divorce was first made by Olaiya through a statement shared online on Monday. In his remarks, he claimed that Nafisat left their home without his knowledge, and that attempts to reconcile were unsuccessful.

In response to Olaiya’s assertions, Nafisat stated in her video that she departed from the marriage a few months after their wedding due to abuse and mistreatment. “In the last few months, I left my marriage because I am in pain and am mistreated,” she said. “I feel like I did not matter, and no one should remain in a home where violence prevails.”

Nafisat further addressed public speculation regarding her sudden departure, emphasizing the severity of domestic violence. “When there’s violence and something is really going on, it’s not something that can easily be understood from the outside looking in,” she noted.

The couple’s wedding in July 2025 attracted attention on social media, particularly for Nafisat’s serious demeanor during the ceremony, in stark contrast to Olaiya’s excited dancing.

This split marks a quick end to Olaiya’s second marriage, which lasted less than five months. His first marriage also concluded years earlier with similar allegations of violence and infidelity.
