Biafra: Our supreme leader is God, not Nnamdi Kanu — MASSOB on IPOB crisis

MASSOB Calls for Unity Amidst IPOB Leadership Crisis

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has urged the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to resolve its ongoing internal conflicts. This appeal comes as tensions escalate within IPOB’s leadership structure.

MASSOB, led by Uchenna Madu, issued the statement through spokesperson Edeson Samuel. The call for unity follows the suspension of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu by the group’s directorate of state, under the leadership of Chika Edoziem. Kanu subsequently suspended Edoziem, further complicating the current situation.

MASSOB has stated that the ongoing disputes among IPOB leaders are detrimental to the collective goal of Biafra’s self-determination. The organization emphasized that no individual has been granted the title of “Supreme Leader” in Biafraland, asserting that such a position is divinely attributed.

“Your attacks and counterattacks, allegations and counter-allegations, are not productive for the self-determination struggle,” MASSOB stated. “Both IPOB and MASSOB are significant entities dedicated to serving the Biafran people. We urge you to refrain from damaging the reputations of these organizations.”

In its statement, MASSOB called for peace and understanding within IPOB, urging its leaders to “sheath your swords” and work together to resolve internal conflicts. Furthermore, MASSOB reiterated that the title “Supreme Leader” does not hold any official standing within the Biafran context.

The group’s proclamation emphasizes the need for constructive dialogue and a unified front among Biafran organizations, underscoring that any claims to supreme authority directly challenge the divine sovereignty attributed to God.

MASSOB also recalled that on June 29, 2017, various pro-Biafra organizations declared Kanu an essential figure in the Biafran struggle, clarifying that they did not confer upon him the title of supreme leader.
