Hanan Buhari Reflects on Father’s Legacy of Integrity and Service
MARRAKECH, Morocco — Hanan Buhari, daughter of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, shared her father’s teachings on integrity and service during a speech on Thursday night. Speaking at the Notable Africans Leadership and Business Summit, she emphasized the values instilled in her by her late father.
“Dad taught me the importance of helping others without expecting anything in return,” Hanan Buhari said, noting how these lessons have influenced her life choices.
Hanan was recognized as one of Africa’s 100 Most Notable Peace Icons at the event. While accepting the honor, she dedicated it to her father, stating that his guidance and belief in her have significantly shaped her personal and professional identity.
“He showed me how essential honesty and strength are, as well as the value of selflessness,” she said. “His belief in me provided the courage to believe in myself. I remain committed to the values he instilled in me, particularly in supporting women and striving to make a positive impact in society.”
