Gbajamiamila: Ex-Buhari’s minister names top govt officials to be held accountable (FULL LIST)

Former Minister Calls for Accountability in PFIPC Scandal

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development Solomon Dalung has named several high-ranking officials he believes should be held accountable in the ongoing controversy surrounding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

In an interview on Channels Television’s “Sunrise Daily” on Friday, Dalung urged an investigation into the roles of key figures in the government, including President Bola Tinubu, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

Dalung’s list also includes the Director-General of the Department of State Services, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. “These individuals, in my view, played roles in embarrassing Nigeria,” he stated.

The controversy stems from allegations made by Adeyemi, who claimed that Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, received 400 million naira through an intermediary and demanded an additional 200 million naira to secure his appointment. The Presidency has refuted these claims, asserting that Gbajabiamila lacks the authority to make appointment recommendations.

Dalung emphasized that Gbajabiamila should be regarded as a central figure in the scandal. He stated that any neglect of Gbajabiamila’s involvement would implicate others as complicit in what he described as a humiliating situation for Nigeria.

He argued that no credible investigation into businessman Adeniyi’s activities at the Presidential Villa could succeed without a thorough examination of the Chief of Staff’s office. “Anyone failing to consider the Chief of Staff as a prime suspect is part of the problem and must also be investigated,” Dalung added.

According to him, the Chief of Staff plays a vital role in government operations, with strict protocols governing access to the Presidential Villa. Dalung questioned how Adeniyi allegedly gained entry, reiterating that access is heavily regulated.

He further called for transparency regarding whether the President was misled or if significant information was intentionally withheld, characterizing the situation as potentially arising from “a personal and selfish agenda.”
