‘We work for Abuja Alhaji’ – Notorious bandit captured in Delta forest confesses [VIDEO]
Alleged Bandit Kingpin Arrested in Delta State
Abubakar Usman, a suspected bandit leader, has claimed responsibility for cattle rearing on behalf of an individual based in Abuja. He was apprehended in a forested area of Delta State during a joint operation by the Delta State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad and the SafeCity Security Service.
The arrest occurred on Wednesday following an exchange of gunfire with other suspected members of his gang at their hideout in the Ogwashi-Uku/Adonta Forest.
The operation was initiated in response to the kidnapping of Mrs. Blessing Chiedu, a resident of Umunede Kingdom, who was taken on July 2, 2026, along Ani-Ifekide Farm Road in Ubulu-Uku. Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu confirmed the incident, stating the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of 100 million naira from Mrs. Chiedu’s family.
A video circulated on social media features Gwamnishu interviewing Usman following his arrest. In the interview, Usman stated that he originated from Niger State and had traveled to Delta, where he joined two other gang members. He mentioned that the group had previously received approximately 5 million naira in ransom from one of their victims.
“We are three in number. I’m from Niger State. We were using a pump-action gun,” Usman stated. “The Alhaji we are working for is in Abuja, but I don’t know exactly where he lives.”
The investigation continues as authorities work to gather more information about the suspect’s claims and his associates.
