Controversial Streamer Peller Released After Four Days in Police Custody
LAGOS, Nigeria — Controversial online streamer Peller has spoken out following his release from police detention, where he spent four days. Peller was arrested on July 3 after a confrontation with police officers who allegedly pointed a firearm at him during a traffic stop for driving a tinted vehicle.
He appeared in a Lagos State Magistrate Court on July 7, facing charges including conspiracy to commit felony, disturbing the peace, and obstructing officers in their duties. The court granted him bail set at 500,000 naira, along with additional conditions.
Following his release, Peller shared details of his experience in custody through a post on his Snapchat account. He explained that he had not bathed or eaten during his time in detention, citing the circumstances as unprecedented in his life.
“When they put me in the cell, the other inmates said, ‘You’re our 001 now.’ I just burst into laughter,” he recounted. “They wanted to wicked me, but God saved me.”
As a result of his ordeal, Peller has yet to resume his streaming activities.
