Blogger admits fabricating stories about Soludo’s family
Blogger Apologizes for False Reports on Anambra Governor
A blogger and purported publisher of Igbo Times Magazine and INews, Ejike Ofoegbu Experience, has issued an apology following the publication of misleading articles concerning Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and his son, Ozonna.
The controversy began when a video of Ozonna dancing to a song featuring critiques of various Nigerian politicians, including his father, went viral. In response, Ofoegbu published four articles that contained disparaging claims.
One report alleged that Governor Soludo had disowned his son years ago and was no longer liable for his actions. Another article suggested that Ozonna had stated he disowned his father, citing multiple reasons for this decision.
In a retraction video posted on his social media, Ofoegbu admitted that the stories were fabricated and that none of the individuals mentioned had granted any interviews. He expressed regret over the false narratives, which he acknowledged were created in an attempt to attract attention and generate revenue for his blogs.
“I wish to offer my deepest and most sincere apology to Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, his family, and the general public,” Ofoegbu stated. “The stories I published concerning Governor Soludo and his son were completely fake, false, fabricated, and untrue. They did not come from any official source and should never have been presented as news.”
He extended his apologies to the residents of Anambra State, as well as the readership of Igbo Times Magazine and INews, vowing to prevent such occurrences in the future.
Several eye-catching headlines were cited in the articles, including one declaring, “I will arrest anyone who calls Ozo my son. He is not my son. I disowned him years ago,” allegedly attributed to Soludo. Another claimed, “I don’t take advice from my father. He was a drunkard who beat my mom when I was young,” purportedly spoken by Ozonna.
The authenticity of Ofoegbu’s statements remains in question, particularly as the video apology showed him appearing visibly distressed. It is currently unclear whether he has faced any legal repercussions for his actions.
