Troops arrest suspected terrorist informants, logistics suppliers in Borno

Military Operations in Borno Result in Key Arrests and Neutralization of Threats

Troops participating in Operation HADIN KAI have made significant strides against terrorist activities in Borno State, arresting suspected informants, receiving the surrender of a suspected member of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), and safely detonating an improvised explosive device (IED).

An operational report from the military, released Thursday by the News Agency of Nigeria, detailed several actions taken by troops throughout various local government areas in Borno. 195 Battalion, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), apprehended a suspected ISWAP informant in Dusuman Ward, Mafa Local Government Area. Preliminary investigations suggested the suspect was involved in relaying intelligence about troop movements to terrorists based in Labe village.

In a related incident, a suspected ISWAP member surrendered to troops from the 73 Battalion in Konduga Local Government Area. The individual allegedly participated in three attacks on Delwa and reported that he discarded his AK-47 rifle in a river prior to surrendering. Among the items recovered from him were a bicycle, a cutlass, bicycle repair tools, and cash amounting to N6,500.

Separately, a suspected terrorist informant was arrested by troops of the 149 Battalion in Gubio Local Government Area. The suspect reportedly confessed to coordinating a significant terrorist infiltration on June 16, which resulted in the death of a CJTF member.

Additionally, troops from the 19 Battalion and 25 Brigade Garrison intercepted suspected logistics suppliers near Road Kauji in Damboa Local Government Area. Upon noticing the military presence, the suspects fled, abandoning behind them two bicycles and several cartons containing energy drinks, milk, soft drinks, veterinary medicines, and a canopy.

In another tactical operation, the 26 Task Force Brigade located and safely detonated an IED found in a farming area in Dagari within the Sambisa Forest of Bama Local Government Area.

These operations are part of broader military efforts aimed at dismantling terrorist support systems, restricting the movement of insurgents, and enhancing security throughout Nigeria’s Northeast region.
