Army rescues 13 kidnapped victims, foils terrorists’ operations in Zamfara

Joint Task Force Rescues 13 Kidnapped Victims in Zamfara State

Troops from the Joint Task Force, North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued 13 individuals who had been kidnapped during separate operations in Zamfara State.

The announcement was made by Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, on Thursday. According to Danja, the operations not only freed the victims but also resulted in the recovery of two vehicles and the disruption of terrorist activities in the relevant communities.

The first operation took place in Bagega, prompted by credible intelligence regarding armed terrorists on motorcycles approaching Tungan Kudaduku in Anka Local Government Area. The troops, aided by real-time surveillance, engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their plans. A subsequent search in the area led to the discovery of a makeshift terrorist camp, where five kidnapped individuals were rescued unharmed.

In a separate incident at Unguwan Rogo in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, troops responded to intelligence on terrorist activity and engaged in a fierce gun battle with the criminals. This confrontation forced the terrorists to retreat, resulting in the abandonment of eight additional kidnapped victims, along with the seizure of two vehicles.

All 13 rescued individuals have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further care and support.

Danja emphasized that troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA continue to conduct offensive operations across the North West region, maintaining pressure on terrorist groups and restricting their movement.
