Kogi State Governor Receives Rescued Kidnap Victims

Lokoja, Nigeria — Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo welcomed a school principal, an official from the National Examinations Council (NECO), and two students at the Government House in Lokoja on Monday. The individuals were recently rescued after being kidnapped during an attack at an examination center in Olowa, located in the Dekina Local Government Area.

The rescue operation was a collaborative effort by various security agencies, and it reportedly forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives. Authorities have confirmed that the successful operation was conducted under sustained pressure from security forces.

During the reception, Governor Ododo commended the joint security team for their efforts and assured residents that endeavors to apprehend those responsible for the kidnapping would continue. He emphasized that criminal activities would not be tolerated in Kogi State.

The governor also expressed concern regarding the existence of illegal examination centers, commonly referred to as “miracle” centers, in light of the state’s free education policy.

Ododo extended his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the security agencies for their support during the operation, reiterating that Kogi State will not be a haven for criminal elements.
