Foreign nationals, Nigerians arrested over alleged illegal mining in Nasarawa community
Several foreign nationals and Nigerian citizens were arrested on July 17 in connection with illegal mining activities in Amba, located in the Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The arrests occurred during a security operation led by Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State. The details of the operation were shared by Ebenezer Daniel, the Personal Assistant to the Governor on Chieftaincy Affairs, in a post on Facebook.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects or the total number of individuals arrested. This operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Nasarawa State Government to combat illegal mining and to enhance regulatory compliance within the state’s solid minerals sector.
