Court Orders Three Foreign DNA Tests On Mohbad’s Son

Ikorodu High Court Orders DNA Tests in Paternity Dispute

IKORODU, Nigeria — An Ikorodu High Court has mandated the execution of three separate DNA tests abroad to establish the paternity of Liam, the son of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, commonly known as Mohbad.

According to reports, the court issued this directive after earlier attempts to conduct a DNA test faced delays, prolonging an ongoing dispute between Mohbad’s family and his widow, Wunmi.

Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, attended the court session with his attorney, Oladayo Ogungbe, who explained that complications regarding the initial testing center had stalled the original plan. To address these issues, Ogungbe informed the court that a new arrangement had been made to ensure the integrity of the results.

Under the revised order, three laboratories outside Nigeria will conduct the tests. Each party involved in the case will select one laboratory, while the court will appoint the third. Ogungbe indicated that the tests will utilize tissue samples, with the stipulation that all three results must match for the findings to be accepted.

“This approach has always been the position of Mohbad’s family, as they want a clear and unquestionable result,” Ogungbe stated. He further noted that Joseph Aloba will not bear the costs of the DNA tests, and all parties will be present during sample collection to prevent any potential interference.

Joseph Aloba expressed satisfaction with the court’s ruling and the proposed process. Wunmi, meanwhile, has consistently asserted that Liam is the biological son of her late husband. However, Aloba has maintained that a DNA test is necessary to resolve any lingering doubts.

The court’s decision is anticipated to bring a conclusion to the paternity dispute that has persisted for several months.
