Joe Cole Suggests Enzo Fernandez May Depart Chelsea Following Morgan Rogers’ Arrival
Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has indicated that Enzo Fernandez could be leaving the club in light of the impending arrival of Morgan Rogers. The England international is set to join Chelsea from Aston Villa during the current summer transfer window.
Chelsea has reportedly reached a club-record transfer agreement for Rogers, valued at £117 million.
On a recent episode of The Rest Is Football, Cole expressed enthusiasm over the signing, highlighting Rogers’ performance and potential impact on the team. However, he also suggested that Rogers’ arrival could necessitate a reshuffling within the squad, specifically pointing to Fernandez as a likely candidate to exit.
“I’m really happy because he’s such a top, top player and he’s performed well,” Cole remarked. “But I think that means Enzo is probably out the door because you have got to balance the books somewhere.”
Cole noted that Rogers is expected to play on the left flank and emphasized his positive rapport with fellow player Cole Palmer, calling it “a really good signing” for Chelsea.
