Activist Challenges Police Official Over Allegations of Conspiracy
Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has called on Assistant Inspector-General of Police Moshood Jimoh to address allegations of misconduct related to a murder investigation.
In a video posted on his social media platform, Otse accused Jimoh of being involved in a conspiracy to frame businessman Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi in the death of Sheriff Salami. He raised questions about the integrity of the police investigation and the overall criminal justice process.
Otse claimed that Jimoh collaborated with Aare Bashiru Fakorede to incorrectly implicate Akanbi, despite initial confessions from other suspects that did not mention his name.
“Do you understand the implications of a businessman using a senior police officer to frame another for murder?” Otse asked, demanding a response from Jimoh regarding what he characterized as serious allegations.
He provided details that suggested the police detained an initial suspect on January 6, 2026, who reportedly identified others involved in the crime but did not name Akanbi. Otse said a subsequent suspect also made a confession that excluded Akanbi’s involvement.
Further, he alleged that tensions arose within the police investigation, leading to claims that some suspects were coerced into making statements that implicated Akanbi. Otse shared what he claimed was part of a suspect’s statement, which suggested that the individual had been subjected to torture and intimidation, including witnessing another detainee allegedly die in custody.
“This discrepancy between the initial and later statements raises alarms about the credibility of our justice system,” Otse stated.
Following the initial revelations, Jimoh appeared on TVC, where he denied any wrongdoing. However, in his latest video, Otse contended that Jimoh had not sufficiently addressed the specific charges leveled against him and renewed his challenge for a public response.
As the situation unfolds, concerns regarding the integrity of Nigeria’s justice system and law enforcement practices continue to mount.
