Tinubu’s Adviser Refutes Rumors of Defence Minister’s Resignation
ABUJA — President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has confirmed that Defence Minister Christopher Musa will not be resigning from his position.
In a brief statement on social media, Onanuga emphasized Musa’s commitment to his responsibilities in ensuring national security. He stated that the Minister remains focused on advancing Nigeria’s defence strategy, with tangible results already observed.
“General Musa is not resigning as defence minister,” Onanuga wrote. “General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd) is fully dedicated to his national security mandate and committed to overseeing the nation’s defence strategy.”
Musa had previously addressed the rumors himself, labeling them as unfounded and threatening legal action against those perpetuating the claims. He reiterated that he had never considered resignation during discussions with anyone.
This clarification came after Musa briefed President Tinubu on the current security situation in Nigeria at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
Christopher Musa was appointed as Defence Minister in December 2025, following the resignation of Mohammed Abubakar from the role.
