The Federal High Court in Jalingo has scheduled a new hearing date for the ongoing suit filed by Alhaji Abdulhadi Lau against Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairman. The court adjourned the case to October 7, 2026, to allow for a comprehensive hearing.
During proceedings on Wednesday, the plaintiff’s counsel requested additional time to respond to documents submitted by the defendants. The attorney argued that this extension was necessary to address the issues raised and ensure a thorough presentation of the plaintiff’s case.
Counsel for the defendants did not oppose the motion but highlighted concerns regarding previous delays attributed to the plaintiff, stating that these delays have prolonged proceedings and increased costs for all parties involved. They urged the court to enforce stricter adherence to timelines moving forward.
After considering both parties’ arguments, the presiding judge granted the plaintiff’s request for an extension. The court emphasized the importance of ensuring a fair hearing and allowing all parties to fully prepare before the trial begins.
The court also mandated that all pending legal documents be filed and exchanged in a timely manner to facilitate the smooth progression of the case when it resumes.
