Glasgow 2026: Ogazi strikes 400m gold as Onojuvwevwo claims bronze

Samuel Ogazi Secures Gold in Men’s 400m at Commonwealth Games
Team Nigeria’s Samuel Ogazi won the gold medal in the men’s 400-meter event on Saturday at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Ogazi completed the race with a commanding lead, finishing significantly ahead of Trinidad and Tobago’s Jereem Richards, who claimed the silver medal with a time of 44.82 seconds. South Africa’s Zakithi Nene took the bronze, finishing the race in 45.21 seconds.
Another Nigerian competitor, Edidiong Okon Udo, placed eighth in the event, recording a time of 45.81 seconds.
In the women’s 400-meter final, Nigeria’s Ella Onojuvwevwo earned a bronze medal. She clocked in at 51.00 seconds, narrowly missing the silver by just 0.01 seconds. Jamaica’s Dejanea Oakley captured the gold with a time of 50.21 seconds, while Barbados’ Sada Williams secured the silver medal at 50.99 seconds.
