U.S. Condemns Deadly Attack in Nigeria’s Kaduna State
The United States has condemned an attack on a village in Kaduna State, Nigeria, that resulted in the deaths of at least 30 individuals, including children. The U.S. Bureau of African Affairs issued a statement on Saturday expressing condolences and urging the Nigerian government to take stronger measures against violence targeting Christians in the country’s Middle Belt.
The early morning attack, which occurred on July 27, has drawn international attention due to the ongoing violence in the region. The bureau’s statement conveyed sympathy to the families of the victims, stating, “We express our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the deceased.”
In addition to offering condolences, the bureau emphasized the need for the Nigerian government to enhance security measures in the affected communities. “We will continue to urge the Government of Nigeria to address rampant violence against Christians in the Middle Belt,” the statement added.
The U.S. has committed to supporting efforts to improve the safety and security of communities facing such violence.
