DSS Operation in Imo State Targets Eastern Security Network Commanders
The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced significant progress in its counter-insurgency efforts in Imo State, resulting in the deaths of two suspected commanders of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and the destruction of multiple militant camps.
According to security sources, the operations, conducted over the past month, specifically targeted camps associated with prominent militant leaders Ifeanyi Okorienta-Eze, known as “Gentle de Yahoo,” and Monday Oluchi Ogu, referred to as “B44.”
During these raids, key ESN figures Solomon Akarachukwu Alisiobi, also known as “Maddox,” and Chima Azubuogu, commonly called “Akajiofor,” were reportedly killed. Security operatives have characterized both individuals as significant players in the militant network.
Reports indicate that the DSS took a leading role in intelligence gathering and coordination of these joint operations, which also involved other security agencies.
Officials claim that these sustained efforts have substantially weakened the ESN’s operational capacity, disrupting its command structure and diminishing its ability to conduct coordinated attacks throughout the state.
Security stakeholders note that the intelligence-driven operations have contributed to a notable decrease in violence in several areas of Imo State over recent weeks. They assert that these successful raids have reduced the strength of the militant network, causing disorder among surviving members and bolstering public confidence in state security measures.
This development coincides with increased initiatives by security agencies to combat violence and restore lasting peace in the South-East region.
