Lagos Police Arrest Two Armed Robbery Suspects
LAGOS, Nigeria — The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two alleged armed robbers and seized a locally made Danne gun, along with three live cartridges, during a routine crime prevention patrol in the Odogunyan area.
The arrests occurred through a joint operation involving police officers and local vigilante members, aimed at reducing criminal activities throughout the state.
According to a police statement, the suspects were stopped while carrying a handbag during the patrol. Upon noticing the security team, they reportedly attempted to flee but were quickly apprehended.
“A search of the handbag revealed one locally made Danne gun and three live cartridges,” the statement noted.
The suspects have been identified as Arowolo Damilola, 32, and Adewale Adeyinka, 29. They are currently in custody, assisting investigators, and are expected to face charges following the conclusion of the investigation.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai commended the police operatives and local vigilante members for their prompt action and teamwork that led to the successful arrests and recovery of weapons.
He reaffirmed the command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property in Lagos and cautioned criminals to avoid engaging in illegal activities within the state.
The commissioner also urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities via the police’s emergency lines for immediate response.
