NSCDC Sanctions 79 Personnel for Misconduct, Arrests 12 Suspects

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced significant disciplinary measures, sanctioning 79 personnel for professional misconduct. The Corps also reported the arrest of 12 individuals connected to vandalism of critical infrastructure and illegal arms dealing.

In a statement issued by Assistant Commandant of Corps Babawale Afolabi, the NSCDC’s National Public Relations Officer, Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi emphasized the organization’s commitment to transparency and steadfastness against misconduct.

Following thorough investigations per the Public Service Rules and NSCDC Conditions of Service, disciplinary actions were completed for 75 personnel. Those involved include one Assistant Commandant General, two Deputy Commandants, 35 senior officers, and 37 junior officers.

The infractions identified range from job racketeering and financial misconduct to theft, unauthorized absence, and actions detrimental to state security. Penalties imposed include dismissals, compulsory retirements, and recommendations for criminal prosecution.

Significantly, the statement refers to an operational incident on February 18, 2026, in Rafin Gabas, located in the Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, which resulted in the death of Mining Marshals Location Commander Levi Agada. Investigations revealed that two personnel, Hosea Habila and Jibrin Labaran, engaged suspected illegal miners with firearms without proper authorization. Both have since been dismissed and recommended for legal action.

Additionally, four personnel are undergoing disciplinary proceedings managed by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’S SIS) in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police, related to alleged illegal arms dealing. The individuals in question are identified as Superintendent Tesie Victor Nnamdi from the Enugu State Command, Assistant Superintendent II Okwuruinya Uchenna and Assistant Superintendent II Obaji Sampson from the Ebonyi State Command, and Superintendent Achor Favour from Nasarawa State Command, who is facing administrative proceedings stemming from public concern over reported mistreatment of a teenage domestic helper.

In a separate operation, the CG’S SIS apprehended nine suspects linked to similar crimes across Ebonyi, Enugu, Kogi, Niger States, and the Federal Capital Territory. The alleged dealers include Friday Nnanna Ujor, 51; Chika Sampson Nwozaku, 48; Nnanna Ujor Chinasa, 45; and several NSCDC officers.

As part of ongoing efforts to protect critical national assets and infrastructure, the Corps reported the arrest of six suspected vandals on July 25, 2026. These suspects were found with a trailer loaded with stolen railway sleepers in Sabon Wuse.

The NSCDC underscored that the actions of the sanctioned members do not reflect the dedication and integrity of the majority of its officers nationwide. All personnel and suspects retain their constitutional rights as administrative and legal proceedings progress.
