Rangers Set to Begin NPFL Title Defense Against Katsina United
ENUGU—The Rangers football club will kick off their defense of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title with a home match against Katsina United on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The match is scheduled to take place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, popularly known as the “Cathedral.”
Last season, the Rangers secured the championship for the ninth time in the club’s history.
In another key matchup, former champions Shooting Stars will face newly promoted Inter Lagos in the opening fixture of the 2026/27 season. This Southwest derby is set for Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan. This match will mark Inter Lagos’ inaugural appearance in the top flight, following their promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) last season.
The remaining matches for the first round of the season will take place on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
