Fifteen Bandits Killed in Ambush by Vigilantes in Zamfara State
GUMMI, Zamfara State — A group of vigilantes reportedly killed 15 bandits and injured several others in an ambush near Gamo Forest in the Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning, following intelligence received about bandit movement in the area. Security analyst Bakatsine shared details of the ambush in a post on X on Monday.
According to Bakatsine, the encounter resulted in the deaths of the 15 bandits, with some fleeing the scene after sustaining injuries. However, the operation also claimed the lives of two vigilantes.
“Yesterday, early hours (Sunday morning), vigilantes ambushed bandits operating around Gamo Forest in Gummi LGA, Zamfara State, after receiving intelligence about their movement,” Bakatsine stated. “The encounter reportedly left 15 bandits dead and several others wounded. Sadly, two vigilantes also lost their lives in the line of duty.”
The analyst expressed commendation for the vigilantes’ courage and sacrifice in confronting the armed group.
