Troops overpower, capture terrorist suspect in Kaduna
Kaduna State Security Forces Foil Suspected Terrorist Movement
Troops from the Joint Task Force North West, operating under the code name FANSAN YAMMA, recently disrupted a suspected terrorist movement in Kaduna State, leading to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and ammunition, as well as the arrest of a suspected criminal.
The operations took place on September 23 and 24, 2026, as the troops continued their efforts to eliminate terrorist and criminal activities within the Joint Operations Area, according to counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama.
On September 23, acting on credible intelligence regarding suspected terrorist movements in the area surrounding Rijana, Kachia Local Government Area, Sector 1 troops quickly mobilized to the location and set up an ambush. Upon spotting the suspects, the troops engaged, forcing them to retreat into nearby terrain.
Following this confrontation, the troops conducted a thorough search of the area, resulting in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition, a magazine carrier, and a military jungle hat, among other items.
In a separate operation the same day at Awom village, troops executed a clearance mission aimed at preventing terrorists and other criminal elements from establishing safe havens in the community. During this operation, soldiers apprehended a suspected criminal, identified as Jacob, who was found in possession of a fabricated pistol and seven rounds of ammunition.
Jacob is currently in military custody pending further investigation.
