South Africa defender Karabo Dhlamini emphasized the importance of securing a win against Nigeria’s Super Falcons in their upcoming match. According to reports from DAILY POST, Banyana Banyana will compete in a play-in match to qualify for the inter-confederation playoffs after failing to achieve automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Banyana Banyana’s hopes were dashed with a 2-1 defeat to Morocco in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Dhlamini stressed the need to capitalize on this second opportunity to qualify for the World Cup.
“The goal is still the same,” Dhlamini told ESPN. “We’ll try our best to win the play-offs because we still have a chance to qualify for the World Cup.”
The match is scheduled for Thursday at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca, with kickoff set for 9 p.m. Nigerian time.
